About — Founder/CEO Chef Danny Bullock
Bull Young Bourbon Founder and CEO Chef Danny Bullock - the first African American chef to have his or her bourbon – is a father, entrepreneur, and connoisseur of fine spirits with a well-known magnetic personality.
The "Private Chef"
Before the birth of Bull Young, Bullock cut his teeth in the culinary world and rose to one of the country’s top American cuisine chefs.
A graduate of the nationally acclaimed culinary arts program at Kendall College in Chicago, Illinois, Bullock has held positions at The Trump International Hotel (Chicago, Ill.), Ritz-Carlton Hotel (Chicago, Ill.), Hotel DuPont (Wilmington, Del.) and Westin Hotel (Wilmington, Del.).
Bullock has also built his highly-successful private chef and catering business, catapulting him to international status.
His clientele list includes professional basketball players and Chicago native sons in Jeremy Pargo and Derrick Rose, and Chicago Bears safety Eddie Jackson. Bullock has also cooked for star-studded actresses Tiffany Haddish and Tasha Smith. His culinary talents took him overseas to Tel Aviv-Yafo, Israel, serving as the team chef for the six-time FIBA EuroLeague champion Maccabi Tel Aviv Basketball Club.
On Feb. 2, 2021, a lifelong dream came true for Bullock when he made his food network debut on the hit show "supermarket stakeout." even though he did not finish first, he stole the show with his charm, charisma, and creativity.
“It was a surreal feeling because The Food Network inspired me to become a chef,”
said Bullock. “So, to be on the same sets and be around the same producers behind my favorite shows growing up was a dream come true, as well as getting the chance to be able to showcase my skills and talents in front of a nationally-televised audience.” However, the idea for Bull Young Bourbon did not come into focus until 2018, when he was working as a personal chef for Pargo in Tel Aviv-Yafo, Israel. “I wanted to get into the bourbon business because I’m a bourbon connoisseur, and it honestly was something for my friends and me to enjoy,” Bullock said. “I’ve been all over the world, drinking different bourbons and scotches, so, why not have my own and see where it goes. For something I approached as a hobby and now for it to be a full-fledged spirit business is a great feeling.”
So why the name “Bull Young”?
“My family’s last name translates to ‘A Young Bull’ in any language. Also, I’m the youngest in my immediate family, and everyone called me the youngest Bullock or something related to that growing up,” Bullock said. “So, to put it in a more present tense, I wanted to be a young bull in this bourbon industry by being the first chef ever to have his or her bourbon in my age and my ethnicity bracket.”
The rest is history, and Bull Young Bourbon officially launched in August 2020, and he and the brand have not looked back since.
“I just want to continue creating moments in history while living out my story through Bull Young,” said Bullock. “And so far, it is everything I’ve hoped for with much more to come.”
Away from the culinary and spirits world, Bullock is the father of Daniel Christopher, born on Dec. 4, 2015. Coincidentally, young Danny’s birthday falls on the same day as one of older Danny’s idols, rapper Jay-Z.
“Outside of my dad, Jay-Z is my number one inspiration when it comes to business, culture and artistry. It is fortunate and kind of comical that my first-born son was born on the same day as my favorite rapper and entrepreneur,” Bullock said.
Chef Daniel Bullock is a native of Wilmington, Delaware, and Chicago, Illinois. He is the youngest son of Christopher and Debbie Bullock and the younger brother of Benjamin Bullock.
